GHRC Joins UN Women UK at CSW69 to Drive Global Gender Equality Agenda

The Global Human Rights Centre (GHRC) joined UN Women UK at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) to advance dialogue on the Beijing+30 Action Agenda. Marking thirty years since the landmark Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, CSW69 provided a pivotal space for governments, advocates, and civil society leaders to assess progress and accelerate action toward gender equality.

This global gathering highlighted the urgent need for structural reforms that ensure women’s rights are fully realized across political, economic, and social systems. GHRC contributed to discussions that examined six critical areas demanding immediate and sustained attention:

🔹 Harnessing Technology for Equality – Closing the digital divide to ensure women and girls are not excluded from technological innovation and opportunity.

🔹 Freedom from Poverty – Advancing women’s economic empowerment by addressing systemic barriers to resources, markets, and financial independence.

🔹 Zero Violence – Strengthening protections and mobilizing action to eliminate gender-based violence in all its forms.

🔹 Equal Power and Representation – Securing women’s equal participation in decision-making processes at local, national, and global levels.

🔹 Women, Peace, and Security – Championing women’s leadership in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and post-conflict recovery.

🔹 Advancing Climate Justice – Recognizing the gendered impacts of climate change and ensuring women are central to building equitable and sustainable climate solutions.

GHRC’s Perspective

For GHRC, CSW69 underscored that gender equality is fundamental to sustainable development and resilient societies. The Centre continues to advocate for policy coherence between human rights, trade, climate action, and gender justice, ensuring that women and girls—particularly in rural and marginalized communities—are not left behind.

Looking Forward

The conversations at CSW69 reaffirmed the urgency of policy transformation, collective advocacy, and bold leadership to accelerate progress toward equality. GHRC remains committed to advancing the Beijing+30 vision by integrating human rights due diligence, gender equity, and sustainability into global systems, working alongside partners to deliver a future where all women and girls can thrive.
